چکیده

The possibility of Pb2+, Cd2+, Ni2+ and Ba2+ ions removal from aqueous solution using light expanded clay aggregate (LECA) was investigated in this work. central composite design (CCD) response surface methodology (RSM) used to optimize the operating parameters (adsorbent granulometry, absorption time initial metal concentration) reach maximum single multi-elemental solutions. After optimization, results shows that efficiency decrease following ion sequence Pb2+ > Cd2+ ions. better (~95%) is observed for Pb2+. Langmuir Freundlich isotherm models were applied equilibrium data at room temperature. revealed on LECA very well fitted with equations. real interest work demonstrate a simple material such as can be remove extremely small levels toxic metals, those found drinking water. So our could starting point development low-cost filtration system metals.

Study of the selection mechanism of heavy metal (Pb2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, and Cd2+) adsorption on clinoptilolite.

The study was carried out on the sorption of heavy metals (Ni2+, Cu2+, Pb2+, and Cd2+) under static conditions from single- and multicomponent aqueous solutions by raw and pretreated clinoptilolite. The sorption has an ion-exchange nature and consists of three stages, i.e., the adsorption on the surface of microcrystals, the inversion stage, and the moderate adsorption in the interior of the mi...

Defluoridation of water via Light Weight Expanded Clay Aggregate (LECA): Adsorbent characterization, competing ions, chemical regeneration, equilibrium and kinetic modeling

Natural, H2O2 and MgCl2 modified Light Weight Expanded Clay Aggregate (LECA) were used as fluoride adsorbents. Characterization of LECA and its modified forms was done by infra-red, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and X-ray fluorescence studies. The specific surface area of HML and MGML was 3.34 and 3.97 times greater than that of NL (11.72 m/g). Improved chemical composition of...

Nanoporous Xerogel for Adsorption of Pb2+ and Cd2+

Classical xerogels are robust, inexpensive and nontoxic materials with low-ordered nanoporous structures. In water streams where the pH is higher than the Point of Zero Charge, the surface of classical xerogels such as tetraethoxy orthosilan (TEOS) xerogel is negatively charged. It was assumed that a xerogel can work as a strong adsorbent for metal ions without further modification. Therefore, ...
